Mine Planning
Runge’s mine planning services cover all aspects of mine planning, from data acquisition through detailed mine design, to the production of operating and cost schedules, and financial analysis for both operating mines and proposed mining projects.
The use of well-established and systematic mine planning procedures enables more detailed studies to be undertaken in the same or less time and at lower cost than alternative more labour-intensive, less systematic methods.
Through Pincock Allen & Holt, Runge is able to offer Geotechnical engineering and Environmental Engineering.
Margin ranking and pit optimisationMargin ranking is a process where reserve blocks are ranked relative to their cash profit per tonne. The areas and horizons identified by the margin ranking process assist in developing pit design strategies. For resources in which multiple seam horizons occur, the relative economics between seam horizons is evaluated. Once mining areas and seam horizons have been identified for different margin cut off strategies, the engineer may be faced with a number of pit design options identical in number to the margin cut off strategies available. The margin ranking process uses a simple but effective tool in an attempt to eliminate less financially advantageous options. Once less financially advantageous options have been eliminated, Life of Mine Schedules using AutoScheduler can be run and the results used by Business Analysts for the financial analysis of the schedules using Runge’s financial evaluation software XERAS.
